President inspects newly renovated heritages in Swayambhunath

Kathmandu : President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Saturday visited different heritages renovated in the recent time at Swayambhunath, Kathmandu.

Anantapur, Pratappur, Shantipur, Bayupur, Basupur and 17 other heritages that suffered damages in the Gorkha Earthquake, 2015 were rebuilt at the premises of Swayambhunath. On the occasion, President Bhandari also offered Pooja in Swayambhunath–the UNESCO World Heritage Site. After the visit, President thanked the stakeholders for completing the reconstruction works of the heritages.

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Rabindra Adhikari was also present on the occasion. The President’s concerns towards reconstruction of the heritages has further encouraged the Ministry, Minister Adhikari shared while briefing the President about the retrofitting and renovation of the heritages.

“We are completing the reconstruction works of Patan’s Krishna Mandir within some time. Some heritages have been completed while the work is in progress for others in Pashupati area. They will be completed soon,” Minister Adhikari shared.

Minister Adhikari said that reconstruction works of all heritages would be completed in coming two years. State Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Dhan Bahadur Budha, Secretary at the Ministry Krishna Prasad Devkota, CEO of National Reconstruction Authority Sushil Gyawali and other officials were present on the occasion.
