IFRC’s Secretary General Sy arriving Nepal

Kathmandu : Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Mr Elhadj As Sy is arriving in Nepal on Monday.

Sy is arriving in Nepal for the four-day visit at the invitation of Nepal Red Cross Society and is scheduled to take stock of humanitarian assistance provided by the Red Cross after the Gorkha Earthquake, 2015 and many other activities of the Red Cross.

IFRC, world’s largest humanitarian organization, had called the international communities for their humanitarian assistance and supports to Nepal following the devastating Gorkha Earthquake, 2015.

Sy had also visited Nepal after the Gorkha Earthquake to enquire about the search, rescue, relief and rehabilitation programmes carried out by the Red Cross activists.

According to Chief of Communications Department of Nepal Red Cross Society Dibyaraj Poudel, Secretary General Sy would call on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali.

Likewise, he is also scheduled to meet representatives of United Nations to Nepal and the top leadership of Nepal Red Cross Society.
Poudel shared that Sy would make onsite visit to Sindhuli for the post-quake reconstruction activities besides attending the 56th establishment day of Nepal Red Cross Society.
