Rangoli Art is the traditional art of India and also in Nepal. It is believed that having Rangoli Design in front of your house brings good luck apart from home decoration purpose. Also in various festivals like Tihar/ Diwali, Dashahara, Snakranti, Gudhi Padva, Ugadi, Ganesh puja, Durga Puja, etc Rangoli is made in front of house and God idols.

We can see people making rangolis on the floor, inside or outside or both of their houses, offices and other institutions during Tihar. Rangoli is a part of Tihar festival. As Tihar is festival of colours ad lights. Making rangoli in Tihar has been one of the traditions.

 

Rangolis are the arts that are beautifully designed on the floors of the houses and business offices during this festival but not only that, it also holds a great significance behind the preparation of Rangoli in Tihar.  Tihar which is also commonly known as Dipawali.

 

It is a festival of lights where every Nepalese are in a mood of celebration. People lights their houses by burning ‘diyos’, candles and other lighting bulbs with different colors while kids and youths visit the people’s houses to play ‘Bhailo or Vailo’ and get money, sel roti and other in return.
