SP Bista suspended

Kathmandu : Superintendent of Police (SP) of the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, Dilliraj Bista has been suspended.

A meeting between Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa, Home Secretary Prem Kumar Rai and chiefs of three security bodies held at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Saturday took a decision to suspend SP Bista during the investigation period.

SP Bista was recalled at the Nepal Police Headquarters after the murder of Nirmala Panta, a 13-year-old girl from Kanchanpur district. Home Minister Thapa’s Press Coordinator Kiran Bhattarai said that DSP Gyan Bahadur Sethi and Police Inspector Yekindra Khadka deployed in the investigations into the incident have also been called to the centre.

The government had transferred Chief District Officer of Kanchanpur Kumar Bahadur Khadka, SP Bista and Deputy Superintendent of Police Gyan Bahadur Sethi for their carelessness to quash the peaceful demonstration staged by the locals demanding arrest of Panta’s murderer(s).
