PM vows to punish culprits of Kanchanpur incident

Kathmandu : Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has vowed to not spare anyone involved in the Kanchanpur incident.

The PM made such commitment with the leaders and lawmakers of Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) representing Kailali and Kanchanpur districts who visited PM and CPN Chairman Oli and another Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ at the PM’s official residence in Baluwatar on Saturday.

The CPN leaders and cadres have demanded the government take action against the culprits, provide compensation to the victims’ families and maintain law and order situation.

CPN leaders including standing committee member Bhim Bahadur Rawal and Lekhraj Bhatta led the delegation to submit the memo.

On the occasion, the PM said the government has formed a probe committee by taking the incident seriously. “Efforts are on to inflame violence under the veil of Kanchanpur incident. The government is serious to this end. The security bodies have been directed to identify the guilty and bring back the situation into normalcy,” PM Oli shared.

The PM also said that the government has initiated process to punish the persons involved in the vandalism of public and private property in the name of agitation. The government will leave no stone unturned to punish the guilty after bringing them under the investigation process, Oli assured.

According to the PM, “Murderers of the girl after the rape and those resorting to vandalism in the name of protest and other involving in fuelling of violence would be punished.”

Urging to be cautious with those politicizing the incident, PM Oli also vowed provide compensation to the victims.
